The Presidency in a statement released on Sunday September 6, disclosed that the removal of fuel subsidy was a tough decision for President Buhari. The statement was released by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu in reaction to the protest by opposition parties, the Labour movement and civil society groups to the increased fuel price and hike in electricity tariff by Power Distribution Companies (DisCos). Newly wedded couple, Alhaji Abubakar Musa and Zainab Shehu Fodio, yesterday, expressed appreciation for the overwhelming support by President Muhammadu Buhari and other top dignitaries during their wedding last weekend.

The wedding Nikkai, which held in Sokoto, Sokoto State at the residence of the Wazirin Sokoto, Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu, was well attended by movers and shakers of the society, including the Federal Government delegation led by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami SAN, Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi, Edo state Governor Godwin Obaseki and his counterpart from Kebbi State, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.

Others include former governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, immediate past governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, representatives of Osun State governor, His Eminence, the Emir of Gwandu and other dignitaries present.

Speaking during a courtesy call on the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Sa’ad Abubakar, Malami thanked the Sultan and Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal for their unflinching support to the Buhari-led administration even as he wished the newlyweds marital bliss.
